Elevator pitch

I didn't realise that an elevator pitch was so easy yet so difficult. Easy because it only takes a minute or less to sell your idea to others. Difficult because it has to be just right and have all the necessary information in that one minute. If you miss one piece of vital information it could cost you. now i know what I have to do when I am ready to put my idea to fruition.

Lack of Communication Entrepreneurs in the C'bean

I was placed with the task of writing a feature article on a regional communication entrepreneur for an assignment and could not for the life of me think of anyone to write about immediately. Eventually with much thought I came up with four persons from my own country of St. Vincent and the Grenadines; three of whom are in the print media and the other television and radio. Why are there not persons involved in PR, Social Marketing and even online communication. These are markets that communication practitioners need to tap into to grow the industry.

We have students going off to university to study media and communications and majoring in Public Relations and Social Media and yet there are no ready jobs for them in their studied field upon completion of their degrees. Yes, these students can start their own businesses but why have they not already been started by the many other graduates that came before them?

We need to give this serious thought for the future of the industry.

Doing this entrepreneurial course surely is an eye-opener as to some of the many entrepreneurs out there. I have learnt about some billionaires and millionaires in Africa and the Middle East who I would never have thought existed. These persons have opened my mind and eyes to what is possible in the world for someone who has all the odds stocked against them.

This is just the motivation I needed to keep thinking about my own business.

Life after uni

So i have always wanted to open my own business an di sure hope i learn some skills form this class to help me along this path. I would really like to have my own consultancy firm in Social Marketing as this is a topic that i am very passionate about.

Final Semester

So I made it to my final semester of UWI. Final semester and I'm doing six courses, I really wanted to do 7 but of course UWI won't allow me to. That means that I've gotta do summer school and stay in Jamaica longer than want to. Anyway I'm gonnna do my best to gt his degree.
